The project included an experiment

The project included an experiment to discover whether training community members to perform some health care tasks 55 56 would result in greater community interest in health care. The answer appeared to be "yes," judging by the popularity enjoyed by some 80 community members who were to work alongside the students. The community medicine project proved to be educational not only for the students involved in the demonstrations, but also for project personnel and the Pan American Federation of Associations of Medical Schools (P AF AMS) and Foundation staff involved.
